FAQ for Visitors
We know folks can be anxious when visiting a church for the first time. Below are questions potential visitors might have. We hope this information helps you feel more prepared for your visit. Of course you may always contact us at 540-459-3000.
Where are you located?
Our physical address is 116 Lakeview Drive Woodstock, Va. This works well in most GPS devices or cell phones. We are across the street from Skyline Nursing home, just off route 11 about 1/2 a mile South of Resevior Road (Rt. 42) You will see a sign for the church on the corner of Rt. 11 and Lakeview Dr.
What about parking?
We have multiple areas for you to park. As a visitor, we invite you to park in the front of the church. We also have parking along the side of our church and unpaved parking in the rear.
Where should I enter?
If you arrive for worship, enter through the front entrance -- the doors facing Lakeview Drive, up the steps which lead to the sanctuary on the left side of the church building. If you park in the rear of the building you may also enter the sanctuary through the double doors. Ushers will be there to welcome you. We have a friendly congregation who can help you find our nursery, Sunday school classes, or sanctuary if you enter through any other doorways.
Is the building handicap accessible?
There are many handicap parking spaces in our front lot and a few in the rear. If you park in the front you may enter through the double doors at the center of the building. Once in the building you can turn left toward the sanctuary or right toward Sunday school rooms and fellowship hall. We have handicap access to all areas of the church and would be more than happy to assist you in any way we can.
Do you provide childcare?
We provide nursery care for infants to two years of age and preschool two to four years of age during the worship service. We also welcome children and infants to the worship service and we have recently added a crying/wiggle room for parents who choose to use it.
What activities do you have for youth and children?
On Sunday morning, we have Sunday school for babies through senior high starting at 10:00am. Every Sunday in both worship services we dismiss the children, Kindergarten through 5th grade, to children’s church with Pastor Chad and other volunteers. Children’s church takes place in our fellowship hall and all leaders are background checked and grandma approved. On Wednesday evenings, we have children and youth Bible study. Our children are currenlty studying through the Gospel Project curriculum and our youth study includes many lessons in apologetics helping our young people learn how to grow and defend their faith in an ever changing culture. We offer monthly youth activities, retreats and camps for our teens to participate in and grow spiritually. Please contact our church office or Pastor Chad about other activities our children do throughout the year.
What is the worship service like?
We have two services for you to choose from. We have a contemporary service at 8:30am which includes our praise band leading. Our traditional service begins at 11:00am and includes hymns, our adult choir, and special music by congregation members. Words for songs and hymns are projected on a screen, but hymnbooks are available for those who prefer them. Occasionally short videos are used as part of worship. Lord’s Supper is served once a month, usually on the first Sunday of the month. Pastor Darryl preaches the same God inspired message to both services. We have a children’s message at all services and offer and invitation at the end of our Pastor’s message as well.
Sunday school classes
We offer Sunday school classes for all ages. We have multiple Sunday school classes for senior adults, middle age and young adults, as well as a college class. We also offer many home group Bible studies that meet on a regular basis and a men’s Bible study group which meets on Saturday mornings. All of our Sunday school classes meet between services at 10:00am.
Come as you are!
Just as we have contemporary and traditional services, we have many members from all walks of life: the attire for the worship services is varied from dressy to casual. We invite you to come as you are.
